Letter to the Community
Dear Friends,
At Community Mercy Health Partners (CMHP), it is our mission to “improve the health of our communities.” In support of this mission, we are pleased to be tobacco-free at all of our campuses and facilities.
In making this decision, CMHP joins a majority of Ohio hospitals, including all those in the Greater Dayton-area, which have implemented or have committed to a similar tobacco-free policy on their campuses.
CMHP’s tobacco-free policy means no tobacco products of any kind may be used or sold on any campus or at any facility owned, leased or operated by CMHP, including parking lots and in private or company owned vehicles. There will no longer be designated smoking areas on any CMHP properties. This policy applies to all associates, patients, medical staff, students, contracted personnel, auxilians, volunteers, visitors, vendors, and tenants of CMHP.
Nicotine is a highly addictive substance, and we understand the difficulties involved in trying to quit. This new policy will not require that you stop smoking or using tobacco; however, it will require that you not smoke or use tobacco while visiting any CMHP facility or campus.
CMHP, which has been identified as an Ohio Tobacco Quit Site by the Ohio Hospital Association and the Foundation for Healthy Communities, offers its employees and area residents smoking cessation classes through Community Mercy REACH.
